Quick Answer: Apharwat Peak is the high point reached by Gulmarg Gondola Phase 2, at roughly 4,000 metres. Views and snow are best in winter, but weather can close the ride, so check on the day. Dress warmly, take it slowly and drink water to handle the altitude.

What is Apharwat?

It is the upper station area above Gulmarg with wide snowfields in winter and open ridges in summer, giving big views of the Himalaya.

Is it always open?

No, weather can close the gondola or limit access, so plan a buffer day if this is your main goal.

What about altitude?

At about 4,000 metres some visitors feel breathless. Walk slowly, drink water and come down if you feel unwell.

How should I plan around tickets?

Book with your hotel or a local agent, go early in the day and keep flexibility for weather. See our gondola ticket guide for phases and prices.

Is Apharwat Peak the same as the Gulmarg gondola?

Apharwat Peak is the destination, the gondola (specifically Phase 2) is how you get there. Phase 1 takes you partway up to Kongdoori, and Phase 2 continues from there up to the Apharwat ridge itself, which is the higher, more dramatic stretch with the best snow views in winter.
