From December to February the average daytime maximum stays between 0.7 C and 4.6 C, and average nights sit between minus 4.8 C and minus 7.7 C. Cold spells push much lower: on the night of December 21, 2024 Gulmarg recorded minus 6.2 C, and in early January 2026 it reached minus 8.8 C, the coldest night of that season. Wind on the Gondola and at Apharwat, close to 4,000 m, makes it feel far colder than the village.
