Quick Answer: For photography, go to Dal Lake at sunrise, the tulip garden in April, chinars in October, Gulmarg in winter and Pahalgam meadows in summer. Use early and late light, carry spare batteries in the cold and always ask before photographing people.

What are the best photo spots?

Dal Lake at sunrise, Mughal gardens in season, Gulmarg meadows and snow, Betaab and Aru in Pahalgam, and Sonmarg’s glacier views.

What is the best season for photos?

Each has a highlight: tulips in April, green valleys in summer, chinar colour in October and snow in winter.

What gear should I bring?

Spare batteries because cold drains them, a lens cloth, a light tripod and rain cover. A wide and a telephoto lens cover most scenes.

Still comparing options? Ask us anything on WhatsApp, honest answers, no pushy sales calls.

What is the etiquette?

Ask permission before photographing people, avoid restricted areas and follow site rules. Drones need permission, so check before flying.

Is a tripod worth carrying for a short Kashmir trip?

For most travellers, no, a lightweight tripod is really only worth the extra bag space if you specifically plan long exposure shots, such as star trails or smooth water on Dal Lake at dusk. For general daytime photography, a steady hand and a wide aperture lens cover almost everything you will want to shoot.
