The Amarnath Yatra usually starts in early July and runs through August, with base camps at Pahalgam (Chandanwari) and Baltal near Sonmarg. Expect security convoys and heavier traffic on those roads, and occasional restrictions on certain days. We plan Pahalgam and Sonmarg days around the yatra schedule and keep Srinagar and Gulmarg days flexible.
Summer is the only time Zoji La and the Razdan pass are reliably open. Add a Kashmir and Ladakh road trip via Kargil, or two nights in Gurez Valley. Ask on WhatsApp (+91 94192 44962) and we will build it into your package.

Snow stays on the high slopes. Thajiwas Glacier at Sonmarg and Apharwat above Gulmarg usually have snow into June, and sometimes later.
It can, from early July. Roads near Pahalgam and Sonmarg see convoys and heavier traffic, so we plan those days around the yatra schedule.
