How do you book Gulmarg Gondola Phase 1 tickets?

Book on the official JKCCC online booking site as soon as your date is fixed. In peak weeks (May, June, late December and January) online slots sell out days ahead and counter queues can take hours. What is there to do at Kongdoori?

In winter Kongdoori is a snow bowl: sledging, snow play and beginner ski slopes. In summer it is open meadow with pony rides towards the Kongdoori and Apharwat slopes and wide views back over Gulmarg. There are basic cafes at the station. Allow 1.5 to 2 hours at the top, more if you continue to Phase 2.

Phase 1 or Phase 2: which should you take?

Phase 1 is enough for most families. Phase 2 climbs from Kongdoori to Apharwat ridge at close to 4,000 m, which is colder, windier and harder on children and elders, and it often closes in strong wind. Fit adults who want deep snow or views of the high Pir Panjal can add Gondola Phase 2 to Apharwat on the same day.

When is the best time for the Gondola?

December to March for snow, April to June for green slopes and flowers, September and October for clear skies. Go early: the first hour after opening has the shortest queues and the calmest air. The Gondola stops in high wind or heavy snowfall, so keep your Gulmarg day flexible.
