Sonamarg, the meadow of gold, sits where the Sindh river cuts through alpine valleys. The main experience is the Thajiwas Glacier, reached by an easy walk or a pony ride from the meadow, with snow around it well into early summer. In season you can raft stretches of the Sindh (river rafting), walk the riverside meadows, and look up towards Zoji La, the high pass that leads to Kargil and Ladakh.
