Drang Waterfall is a refreshing stop on the road to Gulmarg, tucked away near the small town of Tangmarg. A short walk from the roadside leads you past apple orchards and pine to a cascade tumbling over mossy rocks into a cold mountain stream. It is an easy, family-friendly detour that many travellers pair with their Gulmarg trip, offering a quiet slice of nature away from the busier meadows. Local trout runs in the waters nearby, and simple tea stalls make it a pleasant spot to pause, breathe the crisp air and take in the sound of falling water.
Best time to visit: Late spring through summer is ideal, when the walk is easy and the water flows strong from snowmelt. Autumn brings golden orchards and a calmer scene. In deep winter the path can be snowbound and slippery, so tread carefully or visit in warmer months.
How to reach: Drang lies near Tangmarg on the Gulmarg route. From Srinagar it is about a one and a half to two hour drive of roughly 40 to 45 km to Tangmarg, from where the waterfall is a short ride and a brief walk away. Most travellers combine it with a Gulmarg excursion by cab.
